Singh started his football career as a defender of the Johor FA before moving to the Federal Territory in 1983 and was suspended for a year by the Johor FA for allegedly relocating without permission.

He is mainly associated with the Kuala Lumpur FA and was part of the team that won the Malaysia Cup for three consecutive years from 1987-89. He also played for Negeri Negeri Sembilan and Pahang FA before ending his career with Perak FA in 1996.
